<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the safety device of an elevator further surely applying a braking force to a cage. <P>SOLUTION: The elevator has the cage elevatable in a hoistway, a main cable suspending the cage, and a hoisting machine including a driving sheave and elevating/lowering the cage by the rotation of the driving sheave wound with the main cable. The safety device of the elevator includes: a hoisting machine braking device for applying the braking force to the main cable by braking the rotation of driving sheave; a rope for an auxiliary brake connected to the cage and separated from the main cable; a pulley for an auxiliary brake provided at an upper part of the hoistway and wound with the rope for the auxiliary brake; and an auxiliary brake device applying the braking force to the rope for an auxiliary brake. The cage receives the braking force from the main cable and the rope for auxiliary braking device by the respective movements of the hoisting machine braking device and auxiliary braking device, and is braked by the received braking force. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
