<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an analysis of a cause of a communication error in serial communication using synchronizing code. <P>SOLUTION: A writing circuit 26 writes an internal synchronizing code to a shift register 21 in response to a debugging signal DBG. A comparison circuit 22 outputs a timing signal TI indicating the detection of a synchronizing code by the internal synchronizing code written to the shift register 21. A conversion circuit 24 then converts serial data Sda output from the shift register 21 into parallel data Pd1 in response to the timing signal TI.
