<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of detecting the jam during conveyance more properly, concerning a printing apparatus for scanning and moving a carriage to a recording medium conveyed and for printing an image. <P>SOLUTION: The printing apparatus includes: conveying a sheet to a given jam detection position before executing the printing to the sheet (step S301); and detecting a jam that is caused by the contact of the carriage with the sheet based on the presence of the load change to a motor for driving a conveyance roller that conveys the sheet during the period of the sheet conveyance (step S302). The apparatus delivers the sheet to a rear side (sheet feed tray side) when the load change is detected (step S311), and at the same time returns the sheet to a print start position when the load change is not detected (step S303), and executes a normal printing operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
