<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of reducing the number of times of operations necessary for changing a display object to a lower layer whose upper layer is different from that of a currently displayed layer. <P>SOLUTION: A display system displays, on a display, options belonging to a display object layer among layers included in a command tree CT. When a layer lower than an "audio" layer H2 is a display object, an instruction reception unit can receive a change instruction for changing a source (such as "HDD" and "AUX") from a user. When the instruction reception unit receives the change instruction, an instruction execution unit changes the source in response to the change instruction, and sets, as a display object, a layer lower than a layer of the changed source and corresponding to a layer that is a display object before the change (arrow R2).
