1,137,112. Toe-pieces for skis. H. MARKER. 16 June, 1966 [21 June, 1965], No. 26966/66. Heading A6D. A ski toe-piece includes a return spring consisting of a container for a compressed gas, the volume of which is variable by a plunger; the spring tends to return the toe-piece to its normal position of the toe-piece, which is movable only transverse to the longitudinal direction of the ski until the release position has been reached and is then capable of a guided forward movement. A suitable gas spring comprises a cylinder 125 containing a compressed gas and having a piston rod 129 guided in sealing means 130. The cylinder space is divided by a piston 126 into two chambers 131, 132 which communicate through axial bores 127, 128. An alternative gas spring is also described comprising a membrane covering a container of compressed gas, the membrane being movable by a piston outside the container. Four constructions of toepieces embodying a gas spring are described (Figs. 2-15, not shown), the spring being arranged along the axis of the ski or transversely thereto. |
