<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting system and an image display device in which enlargement of a lens can be avoided and a lower cost and further downsizing than before can be attained. <P>SOLUTION: The projection type image display device is provided with a lighting system 100 having an excitation light source 102 emitting excitation light 106-1 to 106-3, a dichroic mirror 104 reflecting the excitation light, a phosphor 101 emitting fluorescence 107-1, 107-2 by the excitation light, an optical system 103 which condenses the excitation light reflected by the dichroic mirror and further makes the fluorescence emitted by the phosphor into nearly parallel light, and a fly eye lens 105 into which the fluorescence, now the parallel light, enters; a display unit; a relay lens for guiding the light emitted from the fly eye lens of the lighting system to the display unit; and a projection part for projecting the light guided by the relay lens to the display unit and emitted from the display unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
