<p>PURPOSE: A tool holder and a tool holder assembly with long seating pads are provided to prevent cutting inserts from shaking inside pockets by minimizing the non-uniform surface contact of the cutting inserts and the pockets. CONSTITUTION: A tool holder(10) comprises a body(12), a pocket(20), and support pads. The body is extended along a longitudinal axis(15) and has a first end. The pocket is extended to the inside the first end of the body and has two or more side surfaces. The support pads are extended from the side surfaces of the pocket. When cutting inserts(25) are installed inside the pocket, the support pads touch one or more wiper surfaces of the cutting inserts.</p> |
