<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-accuracy and low-priced optical pointing device in simple configuration. <P>SOLUTION: Under a monitor 22 of a notebook-sized personal computer 21, first and second light-receiving elements 23 and 24 are disposed at an interval (d) and a light-emitting element 25 which emits a sheet-like light flux 27 is disposed in the middle of the first and second light-receiving elements 23 and 24. A reflector 26 of high reflectance is mounted on a finger of an operator. Angles θ1 and θ2 of light from the light-emitting element 25 reflected on the reflector 26 is then measured by the first and second light-receiving elements 23 and 24, a position of the reflector 26 is detected on the basis of the interval (d) and the angles θ1 and θ2, and a pointer operation is performed by converting the motion of the finger into the motion of a pointer on the monitor 22. In that case, since the reflector 26 has high reflectance and small-sized, the motion of the finger performing the pointer operation can be accurately detected. Thus, a low-priced and high-accuracy optical pointing device can be provided which includes the one light-emitting element 25, the two first and second light-receiving elements 23 and 24 and the reflector 26. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
