<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator which withstands high pressure and is superior in the mountability on a vehicle or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The gas generator 1A includes a cup 30, an igniter 20 and a holder 10A. The holder 10A has: a first concave part 12 which is arranged on the end face of the holder in the axial direction on the side, which faces the cup 30, and is used for receiving/holding the igniter 20; a second concave part 13 which is arranged on the end face of the holder in the axial direction on the side, which does not face the cup 30, and is used for receiving/holding a connector for an external connection of the igniter 20; a division wall part 14 for dividing the first concave part 12 from the second concave part 13; and a circular groove part 15 which is arranged on the outer peripheral surface 11 of the holder and is used for receiving/holding the opening edge of the cup 30 inserted along the axial direction. The bottom surface of the circular groove part 15 is arranged on such a portion that the division wall part 14 of the holder 10A is surrounded in the radial direction.
