<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a durable coating tool as a cutting tool or a tool used for cold and hot forging and plastic working on metal, such as pressing, and a method of manufacturing such a tool. <P>SOLUTION: The coating tool has a coated film on the substrate surface. The film is made of a hard film of AlCr-based nitride or carbonitride with a hardness of 30 GPa or more, and an intermediate film in the interface between the hard film and the substrate.
