<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel for a ship having excellent coating corrosion resistance, which has no need of performing repair coating for up to 25 years which is a ship design life even in a severe seawater corrosive environment of the ballast tank, etc. of the ship. <P>SOLUTION: The steel for a ship having excellent coating corrosion resistance has a chemical composition including, by mass%, 0.01 to 0.20% C; 0.01 to 2.5% Si; 0.1 to 2.0% Mn; ≤0.03% P; ≤0.01% S; 0.005 to 0.3% Al; and ≤0.008% N; and further contains one or more elements selected from Cu, Cr, Ni, Mo, W, Sb, and Sn in an amount of a predetermined range, and balance Fe with inevitable impurities. An epoxy coating film is formed at the top layer of the steel, and the coating film has an internal stress of ≤8.0 MPa, and a water vapor permeability of ≤50g/m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>per day. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
