<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable electric power steering device which can detect errors in calculation of overheat protection. <P>SOLUTION: The electric power steering device includes: an overheat protection current value calculation unit 132 calculating an overheat protection current value restricting a current value flowing in a motor; and an overheat protection control unit restricting the current value flowing in the motor based on the calculated overheat protection current value and suppressing heat generation by the current value flowing in the motor to protect on-vehicle equipment. Information related to the calculated overheat protection restricting current value is stored, and based on comparison between the overheat protection current value calculated this time and the stored information related to the overheat protection current value, whether or not the overheat protection current value obtained in the calculation this time is abnormal is determined. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
