<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glycerin dehydration catalyst reducing formation of propionaldehyde as a by-product, allowing highly efficient production of acrolein, and allowing long-term maintenance of catalyst performance, and a method of producing acrolein using the same, a method of producing acrylic acid, and a method of producing hydrophilic resin. <P>SOLUTION: The glycerin dehydration catalyst contains rare earth metal salt of phosphoric acid and the molar ratio P/R of the phosphorus (P) to rare earth metal (R) is more than 1.0 and less than 1.5. In the method of producing acrolein, glycerin is dehydrated to obtain the acrolein under the presence of the catalyst. In the method of producing acrylic acid, the obtained acrolein is oxidized to obtain the acrylic acid. In the method of producing hydrophilic resin, a monomer component containing the obtained acrylic acid is polymerized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
