<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water electrolysis system capable of appropriately separating high pressure hydrogen containing moisture into gas and liquid, having enough strength, and measuring water level accurately. <P>SOLUTION: A gas-liquid separation device 18 constituting the water electrolysis system includes a block member 40. Inside the block member 40, a gas-liquid separation opening 54 and a water-level detection opening 56 are formed while extending in the vertical direction, respectively, and further each of lower end positions of the gas-liquid separation opening 54 and the water-level detection opening 56 terminate inside the block member 40 and integrally communicate with a discharge pipe 50. An upper end position of the water-level detection opening 56 terminates inside the block member 40, and is interconnected with the upper side of the gas-liquid separation opening 54.
