<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method of correctly measuring the position of the main spindle of a machining center (working machine) by a simple operation. <P>SOLUTION: The device 1 of measuring the position of a main spindle can be freely attached to and detached from the main spindle 100 of the machining center via an attachment 2. The attachment 2 includes a base 3, and a locking part 4 having a hole 4a coaxially with the main spindle 100 is formed on the base 3. A connection member 5 is inserted into the hole 4a from a lower part, and the connection member 5 is fixed to the hole 4a with a screw member 6. A female screw hole 5a downward opened is formed to the connection member 5, and a male screw 7a of a coordinate position virtual member 7 is screwed to the female screw hole 5a.
