<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet reader for preventing the decline of reading performance and improving maintainability such as cleaning of a transparent member by arranging the transparent member of a reading window in an inclined manner. <P>SOLUTION: A paper sheet reader 10 includes illumination devices 4a and 4b for illuminating a reading surface 5 set outside the paper sheet reader 10 through a reading window 6a, and a camera 7 for reading reflected light from the reading surface 5, etc. The reading window 6a has an opening required for illuminating the reading surface 5, and a transparent member 6b, having an inclination angle θ which is large in an upstream conveyance direction and small toward a downstream conveyance direction, and having abrasion resistance and high transmittance, is disposed in the opening. The inclination angle θ is set according to the size and rigidity of a paper sheet P and a sub-scanning width W. When the paper sheet P is conveyed in a direction shown in the figure by an arrow A, a rear end portion of the paper sheet P having weak rigidity is hung down to clean itself while lightly sweeping the transparent member 6b. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
