<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erroneous detection of a paper by removing paper powder adhered to a paper detection surface in a paper detecting means for optically detecting the paper. <P>SOLUTION: The paper conveying device includes: the paper detecting means 4 configured to emit directional light, receive the emitted light by the detection surface 4c arranged on the paper guiding surface side of a guide plate 3 and optically detect the paper to be conveyed; and a cleaning member 5 which is provided on a support shaft journaled while crossing the guide plate 3 in a direction perpendicular to the paper conveying direction, which contacts with the detection surface 4c in accordance with the paper conveying operation to remove the paper powder adhered to the detection surface 4c. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
