PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly control an engine start and stop when a hybrid vehicle is in a manual gear shift state.

SOLUTION: A vehicle travel control device includes: an engine and a motor as a drive source for transmitting drive force to a drive wheel; a gear shift control means controlling the gear-shifting of a transmission; a manual gear shift operation means for inputting a manual gear shift operation to the gear shift control means; and a start control means for starting an engine when a manual gear shift state is established by an operation of the manual gear shift operation means in a coast state and when the operation by the manual gear shift operation means is a shift-down operation.
