<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game machine that prevents a failure from being erroneously detected when a game ball enters a variable winning device immediately before close. <P>SOLUTION: The value of a normal symbol process flag is changed from 3 to 0 simultaneously with closing of a variable winning device 15, and a failure is determined when a predetermined time elapses after the value of the normal symbol process flag is changed from 3 to 0. The variation time of normal symbols in a high-base state is set shorter than the predetermined time to determine the failure after the value of the normal symbol process flag is changed from 3 to 0.
