<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of excellently maintaining image quality while avoiding the reduction of productivity caused by the fact that the forced consumption operation of a developer is frequently executed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is configured to include: image forming means making an electrostatic latent image on an image carrier into a visible image by using the developer by developing means; cumulative image number detecting means cumulatively detecting the number of images formed by the image forming means; average image density detecting means detecting the average image density of a previously set number of images formed in the past by the image forming means; and forced consumption means forcedly consuming the developer of the developing means, after an image forming operation under execution by the image forming means is completed, when the cumulative value of the number of images detected by the cumulative image number detecting means is a first image threshold or more and the average image density detected by the average image density detecting means is less than a first density threshold. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
