<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission capable of reducing erroneous determination of abnormality of the automatic transmission even when slip control of a frictional engagement element arranged in the automatic transmission is in progress. <P>SOLUTION: When the slip control is in progress, if a value obtained by correcting, on the basis of a slip revolution speed, an actual transmission ratio being a ratio of an input revolution speed to an output revolution speed of this automatic transmission is out of a predetermined range of a target transmission ratio, abnormality is determined to occur in the automatic transmission.
