PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit a temporary record and copy to information whose copy is inhibited or whose copy is permitted just once; and to provide a management method of a valid period and an erasure method of expired information to prevent the copied medium from being used against a copyrighter or used for purposes other than the original intent.

SOLUTION: As terms of license of the temporary recording, the followings are set: a duration of retention indicating a valid period in the recording medium; a viewing period indicating the valid period after starting the reproduction; and a copying period allowing the copy to another medium. Even if the copy is inhibited, on condition that the information in the medium is erased, it is permitted to move the information to another medium. Those that have passed the valid period should be erased according to a prescribed rule. A limit is set up on the number of migrations and reproductions so as to enhance the management of the use conditions.
