A method and an apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display are provided to improve image quality by reducing motion blurring from moving pictures. An apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display includes a frame memory(133) and a modulator(134). The frame memory stores (n-1)th frame data from a data input bus. The modulator compares the (n-1)th frame data from the frame memory with n-th frame data from the data input bus and modulates the (n-1)th frame data, when the (n-1)th frame data from the frame memory is not equal to the n-th frame data from the data input bus.
