摘要 Phthalocyanines, especially copper phthalocyanine, are chlorinated and/or brominated under anhydrous conditions in a reaction medium formed from a mixture of phthalic anhydride or halogenated phthalic anhydride and a molybdenum-containing catalyst. Halogenating agents are chlorine gas and liquid bromine. The reaction medium may be formed by halogenating phthalic anhydride in the presence of molybdenum pentachloride or in the presence of molybdenum trioxide and sulphur, hydrogen sulphide or a sulphur halide e.g. the monochloride. After halogenation of the phthalocyanine, the product may be isolated by filtering the molten reaction mixture, by dissolving the mixture in carbon tetrachloride and filtering, or preferably by drowning the reaction mixture in water to hydrolyse and dissolve the medium and filtering off the product. The aqueous filtrate may be concentrated and the medium recovered for re-use after drying, heating, mixing with additional catalyst and possibly with phthalic anhydride and rehalogenating.ALSO:Chlorinated phthalic anhydride is made by chlorinating phthalic anhydride, or mixtures thereof with chlorinated phthalic anhydride, in the presence of molybdenum pentachloride or in the presence of molybdenum trioxide and sulphur, hydrogen sulphide or a sulphur halide, e.g. the monochloride.
