A coin conveyor 1 comprises a chain 2 of coin carrying elements 3 transporting coins along the substantially curved path of a guide 21. The chain 2 comprises a resilient member configured to urge the chain towards the curved portion of the guide 21. The coin conveying elements 3 may have upstanding projections forming a coin receptacle. The conveyor 1 preferably raises coins from a lower position to a higher position. Also disclosed is a coin sensing unit, having a rotary sweeping arm, which is used to determine characteristics of the coins so that the coins can be deposited in a correct hopper. Further disclosed is a coin apparatus mounted in a coin accepting machine comprising a coin hopper having a normal position, another component also having a normal position and a slide mechanism mounted to the machine and the hopper and the another component. The hopper can be moved independently of the another component. Further disclosed is a coin apparatus comprising a coin sensing unit and a rotary coin conveyor in a substantially horizontal plane which receives coins from the sensing unit and conveys them to hoppers located beneath the conveyor. |
