A temperature measuring device includes at least one thermocouple 14, a housing 12 receiving electrical conductors of the thermocouple and providing cooling passages therefor, and a conduit 16 communicating with the cooling passages and the thermocouple for receiving aspirating fluid from the cooling passages to draw hot gases past the thermocouple. Compressed cooling air is supplied at 80 and flows around housing 12 before passing to aspirating passage 38 leading to conduit 16. The air flows towards outlet 34 and draws hot gases, from a furnace into which the thermocouple is inserted, past thermocouples 14, through passages 30 in partition wall 18 into conduit 16. Shields 68, 70 protect the thermocouples from radiation from the furnace walls. The thermocouples 14 may be connected to a selector switch so that they can be read selectively. |
