PURPOSE: An optical pickup is provided to make circularly polarized light incident onto an optical disk and prevent interference noise in a laser diode, thereby efficiently reducing the size and manufacturing costs of the optical pickup. CONSTITUTION: A phase delay polarizing plate(202) converts straightly polarized light of a laser beam emitted from a laser diode(101) into ovally polarized light. A phase delay mirror(206) converts the ovally polarized light into the circularly polarized light. The phase delay polarizing plate is installed in a frontal end of the laser diode. The phase of the straightly polarized light of the laser beam is delayed as much as 90 to 105 degrees and the delayed light is converted into the ovally polarized light. The phase delay mirror is installed in a frontal end of an objective lens(107).
