PURPOSE: A self tanning agent and a composition thereof are provided to promote melanogenesis. CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing an amino acid derivative of chemical formula 1 comprises a step of binding dihydroxy benzoic acid, amino acid, and derivative thereof. In chemical formula 1, AA is 20 kinds of essential amino acids such as Ala, Arg, Asn, Asp, Cys, Glu, Gln, Gly, His, Ile, Leu, Lys, Met, Phe, Pro, Ser, Thr, Trp, Tyr, and Val; and Z is a side chain of amino acids.
