The system (1) has a light source for generating an investigation radiation. The radiation is directed by an irradiation unit on a to-be-examined tooth. The illuminated optical image is detected by examining the radiated tooth. The examined tooth is opposite to the light-conducting and/or light-guiding elements that are embedded in a flexible coupling section provided for attaching to the tooth or gingival of the tooth.
