The vibration damper has two different portions (1,2) which are movable relative to each other. A damping element (5) is arranged in frictional contact with a winding (6) of a coil spring (4) such that the damping element contacts the exterior portion of the outermost winding along radial direction. The damping element is arranged in the form of pin or plate and is made of plastic.
