A system of pitched roof insulation comprises a roll of compressible insulation material 1 fixed to an underlay, the underlay being wider along one long roll edge 5 than the insulating material 1 sufficient to provide top most overlapping 5 with an adjacent said roll and underlay 2. The system also includes battens 3 treated with preservative. In use the insulation material and underlay are fixed to a pitched roof on top of the rafters 6. The battens 3 are secured to the rafters 6 on top of the insulation 1 and underlay 2. The underlay 2 is compressed between the rafters 6 and the battens 3. The insulation material 1 may be thicker than the battens 3 so than when tiles 7 are installed on the battens the insulation 1 presses against the back of the tiles 7 and so the insulation 1 substantially fills the irregular void between underlay fixed to the rafters and the underside of the tiles or slates. |
