The method involves forming curved grooves in inner or outer circumferential surface of the workpiece (1) using a grinding or drilling tool (3) such that a tool head (3a) of grinding or drilling tool is moved along the extending direction of the groove. The workpiece is rotated by an angle of rotation until the longitudinal center plane (N') of the groove is parallel to the tool axis. The angle of incidence of tool longitudinal axis (3') in longitudinal center planar is in preset relation with contour of rotary tool head. An independent claim is included for machine tool.
