A clamping means for a rotatable mast comprising a mast 2 that is rotatable about a pivot shaft 15 and is arranged to be clamped in at least two positions, one of which being an upright position wherein the clamp retains the mast 2 so that it cannot rock wherein this condition is achieved by a locking pin 11 which is spring loaded towards a downward position and can engage with a groove 23 on a side plate 18 mounted on a base plate 9 wherein the engagement of the locking pin 11 with the groove 23 pushes the mast 2 towards a limit bar 12 that is attached to the side plate 23 and wherein a mast release sleeve 10 is provide on the mast 2 to sit between the mast 2 and limit 12 bar in a compressed state when in the locked position. The device may be employed on an aid to help people stand up and allow it to collapse for storage. |
