The shaft 2 of the return pulleys 3 of an endless bucket-carrying chain elevator is movable in casing slots 8 by the action of weights 9 in order to tension the chains 4. To prevent leakage of conveyed material, each slot 8 is sealed by inner and outer sliding plates 14, 12. The plate 12 is rigid with a gland member 11a of the shaft 2. The plate 14 is axially slidable on the member 11a under pressure of a spring 16. |
