The device (1) has a graphics display (3) e.g. organic LED display, and switching or key elements (4, 6) for influencing operating mode of a component of a household electronics system. An integrated proximity sensor (8) e.g. infrared sensor, changes the device during sufficient approach of a person from an energy-saving passive state to an active state, where the graphics display is switched in the active state and a switching condition of the element is represented by a LED i.e. red, green, blue (RGB) LED. The integrated proximity sensor is selected from one of infrared sensor, ultrasonic sensor, capacitive sensor and inductive sensor, and laser.
