Producing printable base layer for a laminate, comprises: (a) providing a base paper for forming a recoverable paper web (6); (b) applying a mixture comprising thermosetting resin material and pigments made of amorphous silicic acid; and (c) drying the paper web. Independent claims are also included for: (1) the base layer for the laminate, comprising the base paper and the resin material-pigment-layer, where the pigments made of amorphous silicic acid; and (2) a laminate floorboard, comprising the base material, the printed base layer and a cover layer arranged on the printed base layer.
