The boiler has a combustion grate with an ash pan that is arranged under the grate. A primary air supply is provided in an area of a filling chamber (6). A combustion gas outlet opening is present in a downstream swirl chamber (7), where combustion gas enters into the swirl chamber at a front side in an axial direction and/or in proximity of front side. The swirl chamber includes a secondary air supply device (8) with an orifice (9) axially directed in a flow direction of the combustion gas. A swirl producing device (11) extends over an inner cross-section of the orifice.
