It is an object to provide a knitting method of widening the body, forming an armhole to a substantially arcuate shape and increasing the peripheral length without reducing the shoulder width, and efficiently carrying out widening at the time in order to obtain a figure-hugging shape, and knitwear obtained by the method. In a knitting method of knitwear including sleeves and a body having an armhole in which a figure-hugging shape is obtained using a flat knitting machine, the knitting method includes the steps of moving stitches of the sleeve and stitches near an end of the body in the outer side direction of the sleeve and providing an empty needle within a knitting width of the body to increase a knitting width; carrying out hole filling of the empty needle for widening; and joining the stitch to be overlapped on the body when narrowing the sleeve and the stitch near the end of the body.
