A motor control system includes at least one monitoring unit 1 configured to monitor at least one physical characteristic of a motor system 9. Means 12 for communicating the output of the monitoring unit to a supervisory computer 14 is provided, as well as a reporting system 15. A sensor 10 may be provided to sense the physical characteristic. The physical characteristic may be temperature, vibration, pressure, voltage, current or humidity. A plurality of monitoring units and/or supervisory computers may be provided. Each supervisory computer may communicate with a number of monitoring units. The means for communicating between the monitoring units and the supervisory computer may be wireless. The monitoring unit may be located in a disconnection switch for the motor. |
