A nylon disc has a conical aperture formed on one face. The disc is attached to a circular plaster or latex sheet which can adhere to a work piece. The point of a nail or drill can be engaged with the aperture prior to being driven through the disc and sheet, and into the work piece. This prevents the drill or nail slipping when driven in at an angle, or into a curved surface. The disc and sheet also protect the surrounding surface of the work piece. The nylon is transparent so the work piece can be seen during use. The deepest point of the hole at the end of its taper is at the same height as the base of the disc.
