PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate with a minimal variation of the axis angle and improved polarizing plate performance (especially in an axial misalignment angle and a light leakage), and a good liquid crystal display free from a light leakage and a color change even when a change in the temperature and humidity is caused in the environment. SOLUTION: The polarizing plate in which laminated are a lengthy polarizer having absorption axes parallel in a longitudinal direction, and a lengthy transparent film which has delayed phase axes orthogonal or parallel in a longitudinal direction, and in which a film in-plane retardation value Re and a film thickness direction retardation value Rth satisfy expressions (i): 0≤Re<SB>(630)</SB>≤20 and the expression (ii): ¾Rth<SB>(630)</SB>¾≤25 respectively. The axial misalignment angle of the absorption axes and the delayed phase axes orthogonally or in parallel falls within 10 degrees or less.
