The image projection apparatus (101) includes an image-forming element (103) forming an original image, a projection optical system (104) projecting light from the image-forming element onto a projection surface (114) to form a projected image, an optical shifting part (105) shifting the projection optical system in a first shift range, an image shifting part (107) shifting an image-forming area on the image-forming element in a second shift range, and a controller (108). In a shift direction in which the projected image is shifted according to an operation of an operating part (109), the controller causes the optical shifting part to shift the projection optical system in a state where the image-forming area is located closer to a center of the second shift range than an end thereof, and then causes the image shifting part to shift the image-forming area in a state where the projection optical system has been shifted to an end of the first shift range. |
