1,132,101. Connecting bus-bar systems; earth-continuity couplings. MAXAM SWITCHGEAR Ltd. 24 Jan., 1966 [23 Jan., 1965], No. 3062/65. Headings H2C and H2E. <SP>"</SP> The figure shows a jointing member 16 for adjacent sections of bus-bar ducting 17 of which one only is shown. The jointing member is sufficiently wide to fit outside the bus-bar ducting to which it is bolted by bolts 23 which pass through elongated holes in the ducting and circular holes in the jointing member thus permitting longitudinal adjustment of the one relative to the other. Overlapping the end of the jointing member and clamped between it and the duct is a copper shim 25 which maintains the electrical continuity of the two members. The ducting sections may be enamelled or galvanized but during coating the area in the vicinity of the shim should be masked by tape which is then removed, The bus-bars consist of pairs of flat sections clamped between insulating bars 15. The continuity across the joining section is made by fish plates clamped on top of the bars by bolts 32 extending between the two bars which constitute a pair. A flanged washer member 35 prevents the bars from splaying apart. In Specification 1,132,102 this washer member may be replaced by a second fish plate. |
