The method involves creating two electrostatic and magnetic fields on both sides of a first end (2) and a second end (3) of a clockmaking component (1) so as to attract the component on polar masses (4, 6). Imbalance between the electrostatic and magnetic fields is created around the component so as to create differential of forces on the component for plating the ends of the component on contact surfaces (5, 7) of one of the polar masses and for maintaining the ends at distant away from the contact surfaces. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an orientation device for guiding pivotally a clockmaking component (2) a magnetic pivot comprising an orientation device.
