The assembly (1) has side supports (3) with cavities (6) receiving front corners (5) of a covering shelf (2). The cavities and the corners allow reversible rotation of the shelf among horizontal utilization, intermediate, and raised positions in a successive manner. Complementary abutment surfaces of the shelf and the supports co-operate with each other to avoid rearward movement of the shelf in the utilization position. Additional complementary abutment surfaces of the corners and the cavities co-operate with each other to prevent rearward movement of the shelf in the raised position. The complementary abutment surfaces do not co-operate with each other to allow extraction of the shelf by rearward movement of the shelf in the intermediate position. The raised position is attained by placing a seat backrest (4) on a rigid shutter (7), where the shutter is arranged along a plane of the shelf by a spring having an elastomer material piece.
