PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a driving method thereof are provided to solve problems in an aperture ration, brightness, and a contrast ratio which occur in an existing in-plane liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION: A second electrode(150) is located on each pixel region of a protective layer. The second electrode has at least one opening for a first electrode. A second substrate faces a first substrate. A third electrode(160) is located on the inner side of the second substrate. A third electrode covers all pixel regions. A liquid crystal layer is located between the second electrode and the third electrode. |
