A PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) equipped with a fingerprint recognition/input device and a controlling method thereof are provided to increase user convenience by enabling a user to promptly activate a desired function with a minimum operation, as the fingerprint recognition/input device performs a function of a navigation button or a user programming button. A fingerprint sensor(310) applies fingerprint data to a controller by scanning a fingerprint of the user. A memory(330) stores the fingerprint data corresponding to each finger of the user and the function corresponding to the fingerprint of each finger. A CPU(300) activates the function corresponding to each finger by comparing the fingerprint data inputted through the fingerprint sensor with the fingerprint data stored in the memory. A power supply IC(320) keeps power of the fingerprint sensor in an on-state for the navigation mode and turns off the power of the fingerprint sensor for other modes excluding the navigation mode. |
