The tailgate has an upper portion (2) hinged to an upper edge (1A) of a boot door. The door is pivotable from its closed position in which the door closes a rear opening of a vehicle to a total open position, where the door is pivoted upward. A lower part of a frame (3) is provided under the upper portion in the closed position. The lower part of frame is hinged so as to be opposite to the upper portion in the open position.
