METHOD FOR STANDARDIZATION BLACK ELDERBERRY (SAMBUCUS NIGRA L.) FLOWERS IN MULTICOMPONENT HERBAL MIXTURES

A method for the standardization of the flowers of the black elderberry (Sambucus nigra L.) in multicomponent herbal mixtures provides for the use of high performance liquid chromatography. The content of the substances from the flowers of the black elderberry is detected in the herbal mixtures containing the herb of the Saint-John's-wort, the roots of the valerian, the roots of the common chicory, and the seeds of the flax. The chromatography in gradient mode is performed with water-acetonitrile mobile phase and reversed phase column. The sample is purified by solid phase extraction prior to chromatography. The content of astralgin should not be less than 0.14 % expressed on a dry basis.
