<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the abnormal closing of an EGR valve in an internal combustion engine with a supercharger that has an EGR system. <P>SOLUTION: This abnormality detecting device includes a twin entry type turbocharger 30, first and second exhaust manifolds 32, 34 making exhaust gas of first and second cylinder groups flow into respective inlets of a turbine 301, the EGR valve 44 disposed in the course of an EGR path 42 connecting the first exhaust manifold 32 to an intake manifold 12, and cylinder inner pressure sensors 20 set to the cylinders of the first and the second cylinder groups, respectively. When the full closing of the EGR valve 44 is requested, intake amounts of air to the cylinders of the first and the second cylinder groups are calculated (steps 100-102) using the cylinder inner pressure sensors 20. When a difference of the intake amounts of air of the cylinders of the first and the second cylinder groups is larger than a prescribed reference value, it is determined that the abnormal closing has occurred in the EGR valve 44 (steps 104-106). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
